Tengenco is a creative team focused on developing puzzle games in 2024, specializing in point-and-click adventures. Unlike the 3D RPGs or strategy games I've been developing, puzzle games heavily rely on IP and storytelling, demanding creativity and thematic depth while also garnering a dedicated fan base. Since joining a Jam in November last year, I have collaborated with several team members, building trust and cooperative experience. Working with them allows me to leverage my strengths in Unity development (even though I have longer experience and stronger skills in C++, and have essentially mastered UE development tools through the Darkflow project). 2024 marks the beginning year for Tengenco, with team members hailing from the gaming industry, possessing production and marketing experience, which were areas I lacked in previous projects. From them, I can learn more scientific production processes and standards in the gaming industry.
Update 2025.1.15
In the blink of an eye, over 50 weeks have flown by. Each week, I've been rapidly iterating on projects, and time always seems to fly when you're immersed in game development. In 2024, I've experienced the development of two new games from scratch. Before May last year, I went through dozens of iterations developing a puzzle game. Based on playtesting results, the producer decided to abandon that project and start a new one, which is the Rogue-Like card game we're now finalizing. It combines the land concepts from Monopoly with the characteristics of card games. We've temporarily named it "Egg-Hunter," a nod to the treasure-hunting aspect of Rogue-Likes.
Over the course of 7 months, we've perfected the game through weekly iterations, completing 5 major development versions. Each version was an improvement based on player feedback from playtests. The current version is DSE, and you can see that I've submitted over 680 code deliveries during this period. As planned, we'll be submitting a demo of this game to itch in the coming days, followed by an official launch on Steam.
A busy but fulfilling year
